Have you ever been teaching a class at church only to see drooping heads and eyelids from your semi-comatose learners as you read through the lesson from start to finish? Why not liven things up a bit by using some of the resources already available from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints?

Youth.lds.org – an outstanding site if you’re teaching the youth. Free music and inspirational videos may support the lesson materials that you’re assigned to give.

Music.lds.org – try using an inspiration song or hymn - it can help bring the spirit into your lesson.

You can also use recent General Conference talks, media, and stories to help support your lesson material.

So prepare well, spend some time, and make your class inspirational and motivational for your students while sticking to the lesson curriculum.

Take advantage of the great musical resources available online.

Music can have a great influence over your thoughts and feelings. With today’s technology we can listen to it while we’re driving, exercising, eating, working, sleeping, and so on. Here are some great resources to fill your musical plate with good and healthy things for your spirit.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has a web page that lets you listen to some of their songs and learn about future events and concerts. You can also find many of their music videos on YouTube.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has a great page on music that will not only let you listen to and download church hymns and other songs, but also let you learn about music, directing, and accompanying.

You can also find other websites that will let you download good positive music legally and free.

With all of these great resources available, we should be able to find ample good and uplifting music to fill our listening time.

Great idea for improving your singing.

In some of our smaller meetings on Sunday we are in rooms that do not have a piano – yet we still often sing a hymn to begin our meeting. Our singing has actually become bearable as one of our cell phone carrying attendees started downloading the hymns from http://www.lds.org/churchmusic/ and playing them for us to follow. He will even transpose them to lower or higher keys to better match our meager voices. The nicer singing makes for a nicer beginning to our meeting.
